~Wendy's Space~ |
new year, new blogI've been contemplating moving my blog for a while now. Due to frustrating limitations with msn spaces and a lack of interaction with visitors, the new year seemed like the right time for change. I have moved to Typepad and hope you will check in with me there. Word of the day - DroopyChristian said he felt so droopy all day. That was Friday.
By Sunday morning, we were in the ER at Cook Children's hospital.
Eventually he was admitted, spending the next two nights recovering from pneumonia.
![]() Christian was so brave considering everything he went through.
The hospital staff took such good care of him.
We were so impressed with the quality of care and compassion shown by everyone.
However, it is good to be home and Christian is doing very well.
Being in the hospital wasn't such a drag though.
First of all, eating in bed is fun, kid movies play continuously on 3 channels, and you get to meet the Dallas Cowboys!
![]() ![]() Don't ask me their names. But they all were so friendly, chatting with the kids and autographing the team photo.
I think they have a new fan. Do you ever get the feeling.....Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?
When I would turn to look at her, Sophie would race across the yard. A few minutes later, she would sneak back up to have another peek through the window. Caps to the CapitalJust look at these little baby caps!
No, they are not for anyone in this house. They are for Caps to the Capital. I used two different patterns. The first pattern is from the Oct. 2006 issue of Crochet Today. The second is in a .pdf download from the Save The Children website. It also includes a knitting pattern. Can you guess what I will be doing the rest of the weekend? Crocheting four more hats. Three of the hats are gifts but I received an order for the fourth hat. Christian has requested a black hat with a bright green stripe. I better get working. favorite Christmas cd'sI love Christmas music. So, I thought I'd share my two favorite Christmas cd's.
Although I don't normally listen to jazz, both of my picks are definitely jazzy.
I added Diana Krall's Christmas Songs to my collection last year and it has moved to the top of my play list.
![]() Have Yourself a Jazzy Little Christmas is still my favorite. It features Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Mel Torme.
![]() You can listen to samples of both cd's at amazon.com A simple carpenter.....We attended the school Christmas program this weekend.
This year Christian wanted a speaking part and he got one.
He was Joseph.
"A simple carpenter am I," one of his five lines. He did an amazing job speaking clear and slow. He didn't seem a bit nervous. We are very proud! ![]() Ruby ShootsFinished this Crewelwork recently. The pattern is called Ruby Shoots.
It was framed and already has a new home in Kansas.
![]() A hat for my brother's birthday. This was fun to crochet. I'll probably be making a few more of these.
![]() It was 80 degrees yesterday. It was 80 degrees yesterday. Today it is 29 degrees.
It finally feels like winter in Texas. There was some sleet falling and a few snowflakes floating around.
School was actually dismissed early!
![]() I know this isn't very impressive, but we can't be too choosy in Texas.
It is a major event whenever the ground has the slightest dusting of white.
nativity setI came home with this Nativity Set from Target yesterday.
![]() Doesn't it look fun? Christian should enjoy playing with it.
I guess he is ready for Christmas. He asked if we could set up the Christmas tree last night.
I'm not quite ready for that.
Chalk DrawingsHappy Halloween!
![]() Our driveway is covered with Halloween inspired chalk drawings.
This little "Skelitain" Christian drew is my favorite. ;)
Hip SquaresI spent my weekend tackling a bit of crewel embroidery. This is my first project and I was determined to finish no matter how it turned out. The pattern is HIP SQUARES from the The New Crewel.
Stitches: Chain Stitch, Satin Stitch and the Split Stitch. A parrot? This bird has been visiting my birdfeeder the last couple of days.
Someone has obviously lost their pet parrot. I'll have to ask around the neighborhood. Botanic Garden of Fort WorthThis weekend we visited the Botanic Garden of Fort Worth.
There were fountains to play in,
![]() Squirrels to chase up trees,
![]() fish to feed,
![]() futile attempts to catch a green Lizard,
![]() stepping stones to maneuver,
![]() And bridges to cross.
![]() If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Botanic Garden
don't pass up the beautiful Japanese Garden.
If the Texas heat and sun weren't a constant reminder, you'd never know you were still in the lone star state.
There is a small admission fee to enter but it is worth it.
After the gardens, we went to the Purple Cow Diner and yes, everything was purple including my vanilla milk shake.
C played the old Juke Box (he had never seen one in person before).
Music choices were Elvis Presley's I'm all Shook Up and Chubby Checker's The Twist. |
